Helllo everyone,
im very new to this i have purchased myslef a 66 coupe inline 6. I have a borg Wagner T-5 transmission i have got from a 91 Mustang Gt. I need a few answers. I am buying a conversion kit for it and a new B&M Ripper shifter.

Need info on:

..Clutch ( what type etc.)

..Driveshaft

Basicaly i need any info on this type of conversion. I have read it has been done and it helps alotwith acceleration and gas mileage so any help would be useful thanks alot.

Swapping into my '66 6 cyl convertible

I had to make some extra changes. Cut stock exhaust pipe and raised up a couple of inches. On my convertible the exhaust hit a cross plate, that is not there on coups or fast backs.
The back of the engine sits about 1.5" lower with the T-5 (trans can not sit any higher). There was a change in the driveline angle, so I picked up a set of 2.5 degree shims for the rear axle, I'm now within 1/2 degree (cheapy inclinometer gauge).

Picked up the adaptor and mount from Modern Driveline. The adaptor had to be clearanced (used a die grinder) for the front transmission flange bolts. The transmission mount is absolutely perfect.

Even though the stock cable will reach, it is very tight and will eventually fail. I would suggest getting a longer cable.

My driveshaft was 3/8" too long, had it cut and a 1310 u-joint end cap installed.

Used the stock shifter, a Hurst lever and ball for an 83-8? Fox Mustang. The shifter needs to sit back about 2 more inches, something I will fab a block to fix...
eventually.

Over all it works incredilby well. Really brought the 6 cylinder to life.
I've got the T5z with a 2.95 first and an 0.65(?) overdrive. It will climb a good grade in 5th. And is an absolute joy to drive in town.

Good luck,

Scott
