I thought that premier trim package gives you the aluminum pedals and bezel around the shifter while the IUP gives you the metal door handles? I believe that sport interior package gives you two tone colors, but only available in certain combos with certain options.

Not sure yet as my car will not be delivered until July. I can say that the wife and I drove an Acura TL with ambient lighting and it was cool as hell. This is my first new car that I am ordering so I wanna make sure I get everything that I want. I also went back to 3.31's because I was convinced that I will probably change to 4.10's later.

All the packages are on the Ford website.
Sport Interior Appearance Package with MyColor: leather wheel/silver spokes, alum. pedals, shift knob, black seats,carpets, mats and door insert. Cloth or leather seats in contrasting graphite or parchment.
IUP: bright 6 gauge instruments/My Color, bright shift knob, satin vents, sleather wheel satin spokes, door latches, scuff plate, message centre, dark charcoal door inserts. Requires satin aluminium or woven charcoal panel applique.

Gotcha. I was thinking that the sport interior may have been in addition to the IUP, but it looks like you can get one or the other. The only thing I'm having a hard time understanding now is the premier trim package. I've been to several dealers looking at cars on the lot and have yet to se one with this package. On a side note, I have also yet to see a GT without the IUP, so I can't really compare but the guages and message center alone make me want to spring for it. And although I haven't seen one in person, it probably would look too cheap and plasticky without the package.

If I had to order another Mustang GT, I'd still avoid getting the IUP because everyone's S197 and their sister's S197 has the IUP. I actually had a few S197 GT owners come up to my GT and ask what I did to the interior because it looked very different. I told them it was the base interior. Even all of the rental S197's I have seen had the IUP.

The Ford leather steering wheel cover feels cheap but looks very OEM. My Wheelskins leather cover feels more like real leather.

The ambient lighting seems overpriced. For $300 you don't even get the color changing LEDs in the overhead console. I could just buy several different colored LEDs and install 194 holders in the footwells for far less than $300.

The Sport Appearance package is what I would order on another Stang. The two-tone treatment makes it look very snazzy but it will include the IUP IIRC.

Why would you NOT want to get a fairly inexpensive option that makes your car feel so much nicer? So you aren't like everyone else? That seems like horrible logic to me. There is a reason why its a popular option... As a side note, I've had about 10 mustangs as rentals, only one of which had the package...

The other thing that really sets off the interior is the Premier Trim Package. It includes everything that the Sport appearance package has, but then adds the leather wrapped dash and center console lid, and upgraded arm rests. It only is $50 more than the Sport Appearance Package.

Be careful with the ambient lighting - I have been told by a few people that have it that since the cupholders have a ring of light, it can be EXTREMELY distracting.

Yeah, really. If you want something different, get the charcoal weave dash. That looks outstanding, and less people have it.

Premier package requires the IUP package and the GT Leather or CS and you then get, on top of those, the leather dash top and centre compartment lid, upgraded armrests with stistching, aluminium pedals and solid colored seats in 5 color combinations. Not sure I'd be bothered with any of that.

The interior does look cheap without the IUP. First S197 I ever saw had the basic interior and was way worse than my 4th gen Z28. It wasn't until I saw one with the IUP that I ever contemplated buying one.

I've seen that on a lot of cars as well. Every rental S197 that I have personally seen has had the IUP, along with a lot of vinyl markings on the outside and all of the exterior trimmings.

In our parking lot at work, out of the several dozen Stangs, only mine does not have the IUP. :D I still wouldn't buy the IUP because it doesn't offer any performance, handling, or fuel economy advantages at the extra cost. The trip computer should have been standard on all Mustangs so I refuse to pay extra for the toy. In addition, I absolutely despise chrome surfaces inside and outside of the car. The black alloy weave doesn't really impress me enough to shell out the extra cash for the IUP.

If the IUP included real Alcentara leather on the dashboard, a-pillar, and other interior surfaces, I would consider it for noise reduction purposes.

I did not bother with the optional side airbags because it's just extra weight. I see that they are not standard on 2008s so there's no longer a choice. I also opted for the cloth seats because there's no option for chilled leather seats. I do not like sitting in hot leather seats in the summer.

If I had to order a new Mustang, I'd definitely opt to select the HID headlamps.

My car has the IUP w/ the charcoal dash treatment, and the Premier Package with the leather dash pad, and arm rests. It looks very nice. It also includes the pedal covers and the silver shifter bezel.

After all this, I think I have decided to go with a Bullitt. I drove one and it runs quite a bit better. 3.73 rear and an additional 20 horse really helps(mostly the gearing, Im sure). Plus I like the cleaner look and exclusivity. I thought they were supposed to be hard to find, though? My dealer has four of them.

Go for it! I actually would order a Bullitt if I could go back and buy my car over again.

A dealership near me has one for MSRP and they're giving the $1500 bonus cash on it, too. If I didn't have so much in my '07, I'd be all over it. You actually get a lot of upgrades for the price. It's only about $2k more than I paid for my GT (before xplan and incentives, of course)

I didn't like how they decontented the foglights for the Bullitt. They could have at least used the GT500 front fascia with the GT500 foglights. IIRC, the original GT390 had some type of lighting in that location.
