I have a delima going on here and i need some opinions! I have finally got my self in the financial shape to buy a new car. Im looking at 2 diffrent cars. The 2008 Mustang Shelby GT and the 2008 mustang bullitt. I love both of these cars. I need to know some opinions on these cars. It is to much for me to decide on this on my own, because this is a big decision. Thanks for the opinions!

It depends if you want to keep it stock or build it up. If your going to build it up then I say buy a bullet or a GT and do the build yourself. A: because its cheaper. B: Because your not messing with a lower production number vehicle. Shelby GT's are neat but are really over priced for what you get in my opinion. The bullet on the other hand isn't that much more expensive than a GT and you get some tasteful mods. The shelby gt is a stock gt + Ford racing FR3 handling pack, Ford Racing Mufflers, a hurst shifter and some interiour and exteriour bling that will cost you much more than what the parts are worth in my opinion. The bullet is a GT + a CAI, Shifter, Strut Tower Brace and cat back exhaust. The main difference is the bullet is only something like $1500 or $1600 more than a premium GT. The shelby gt is going to run you like $5k-7k more depending on the dealer.
So - Higher Priced, Lower Production show car or a Mid-ranged Understated more mod-able mustang. Thats my $.02

Most people on here will tell you Bullitt. I personally am not a big fan of the looks of the Bullitt. If you can swing the extra cost, go for the Shelby GT. As a note, I saw yesterday that SGT's now qualify for X-plan and have a $1k rebate. I think the Shelby's look badass.
If you are planning on modding the vehicle, however, I would go with a standard GT or possibly the Bullitt as Towelly said.
In the end though, you need to do what makes YOU happy, not what makes us happy.

Well, the thing is, the shelby is actually priced the same as a Gt here in Russellville where i live. The premium GT is 31k, the shelby GT is 31k, and the bullitt is prices at 34k. Also, the shelby GT also has the CAI, Strut tower brace.
My other question is what exactly is a "premium" GT?

Premium GT usually means leather and the upgraded wheels only. The only thing I don't like about the Bullitt is that there are no foglights in the grill, the thing looks like a V6. I don't see how the Shelby GT is cheaper than the Bullitt. Is the Shelby an '07 or '08?

Shelby has more show stuff, Bullitt has more go stuff. Resale will probably end up being about the same on each one. Bullitt also has the adaptive tuning, which, with the changing gas prices, is a good thing.
The Shelby GT carries Shelby's name. I would buy it if I could. The Bullitt does nothing for me. I would have a Shelby now if dealers hadn't marked them up so much when they first came out.
In the long run I believe the Shelby will prove to have a higher resale value and be more collectible. I think that will be especially true when Shelby dies.

When I bought my GT it was the same. Shelby GTs were around 30-32, and the Bullitt was over 42k.
the shelby is an 08, has 8 miles on it. The thing about this all is, my intentions with these cars are not to keep them stock. I plan on having them tuned, and putting diffrent exhaust on them and putting diffrent wheels on them. I have no idea what to do. I love both of these cars, if i can get the shelby for about 28k i will proboly do it, on the other hand, if the dealer will go down to 30k on the bullit.....im gonna be pulling my hair out!
If you can get the shelby for 28 jump all over it. That would be worth it for the suspension alone if you ask me. That is, if you don't mind modding it.

It's just a classic in name and performance. I think they are much more distinguishable than the Bullitt.
You get the shelby name on the car... the plaque on the dash... the whole nine. Not to mention some kick-ass performance.
Motor Trend just tested the Shelby GT against a Roush and a Saleen... and essentially outperformed them both. however, none of the three were supercharged... so I imagine the outcome might differ if they pitted a GT500 against the higher level Roush/Saleens.
But... if you decided to go with a Bullitt, no one could fault you. That's a fine auto as well.
Finally... another possible option to consider is getting a GT and boosting the hell out of it for probably less $$.
In the end... do you want resale, appearance or straight performance the most?

mine works really well and can take a fair amount
well turns out that 31k was without the shelby package added in. So the new price on it is 41k, so i said screw that and ive decided on a premium package GT. It would be pointless to buy a bullitt cause im gonna change the exhaust anyways, and the cold air intake, and all that stuff. I would pretty miuch be throwing money down the drain

No worries as the GT can be easily modded to the level and beyond either of those SEs, just won't have the reasle value(which I could care less about). Post up pics when you get it

I wondered if that was going to be the case on the SGT. A friend had a similar experience. The salesman was quoting him the Ford sticker price and not including the Shelby add-on sticker price (over the phone). When he went to buy it (my friend knew what it should cost and saw a deal in the making), the dealership realized their mistake and said sorry, we forgot about the other sticker, no deal. He didn't have anything in writing and kind of expected that to happen and he didn't hold it against the dealer, so he bought a regular GT instead from the same dealer who did make him a sweet deal on the car he did buy.
Anyways, I think you did the right thing. If you plan on doing mods, especially changing wheels or doing anything else to the exterior, you are better off buying a regular GT and using the savings in making it "your car" exactly how you want it.
