ok so i just bought a 94 Mustang GT 5speed, it has a 115k miles on it, headers, exhaust, 3.73's, short shifter, intake, along with other goodies. So i get it home and im testing some things out and I find out it needs a new right turn signal bulb because it makes the fast click noise and the rear bulb blinks fast and front doesnt blink at all, so i swap it and nothing. So then i swapped in a new flasher. So im assuming it must be the turn signal piece in the steering column because after swapping all this stuff and fitting the ground a little better the turn signal works if i lift it slow, but if i do it fast or push it too far up it stops. Also, kind of bad, but the iginition will turn without the key in it, i can start the car and everything with no key. Im assuming i need a new ignition cylinder too then? I have a friend with a garage who will let me use it but i need to know what parts i need to fix first.

thanks in advance, help would be much appreciated.

The ignition cylinder is pretty easy to do all you need is a new one. I recently changed mine and it was simple just have to turn the key to he on position and push the pin on the cylinder in from the bottom and out she comes. it is alot easier to see what you are doing if you remove the bottom column cover but can be done with it on as well. as for the single light issue i have no clue but i am sure someone who knows will chime in.

Like can95droptop said, the ignition cylinder is simple. Takes about 10 minutes. I am doing mine this weekend since I can use any key, screwdriver, even nail clippers to turn the car on. As for the blinker, check the wires one both front and back. I had a mercury tracer a while back that did the same thing. It ended up that the ground wire was intermittent. Could be due to a bad ground, stripped wire, bad connection, or as you said the switch at the steering wheel.

ya i checked the ground, that headlight's ground had paint beneath it so i shaved it to the bare metal and it helped because now it will turn on, sometimes... i think its the switch in the column because it will turn on sometimes but if i push the lever too far or too fast it will turn on then shut off.

The switch may be broken. Here's a cheap one on ebay. I think I should pick one up too. My windshield wiper button on there doesn't work anymore lol.

I had the switch on my older Stang actually kind of heat up and melt so its a good call to replace the switch just to see if it fixes it for the little it costs, i waste more money on less productive things... so my wife says.
