I had a complete new clutch system installed including the quadrant and cable. Everything is fine except reverse kind of grinds a little when shifting into it. Is this normal on a 89 LX 5spd?
The 2nd to reverse always worked for minereverse is not a synchronized gear. If someone tried to jam it in R a few times them you could have caused some damage to the forks, gears, etc.
As stated rev is not synchronized so unles you go from 2 or 1 to rev first or double clutch to slow the shaft speeds down so they are equal you'll get the grindThe 2nd to reverse always worked for mine
Before I really messed it up lolbut reverse always had a little "catch" if going directly from neutral but not if I used 2nd first. Any idea why this was the case? I'm just curious?? I know very little about the T5 internals but will know more in the next month(opening it up over Christmas)
I see. Now I understand...makes sense. I never really thought about it before. As stated rev is not synchronized so unles you go from 2 or 1 to rev first or double clutch to slow the shaft speeds down so they are equal you'll get the grind
