OK guys i gotta 89 shortblock in my car with 90k miles. here is my setup:

GT40-P heads from 99 explorer

holley adj. fuel pressure regulator

holley systemax intake

EGR valve disconnected

MAC headers, catless h pipe, flows

BBK 70mm TB

NEW frpp #19 inj.

* deleted PCV and single breather in place of oil fill cap

Questions:

1) My idle still surges a little bit up and down. will a tune take care of this and how will they tune it?

2) What should my fuel pressure be at idle? right now its at 32

3)is there any benifit to running a PCV?

4) under ligth acceleration the car "chugs and bucks" What would be causing this.

5) what would be the best plug to run with these heads?

Any help would be GREAT! THANKS A LOT!!! :SNSign:

i don't think your pcv hurts any thing, and i would think motorcraft, bosch, or autolite plugs would work, not sure about heat range.

Your surging is probably from deleting the PCV valve and replacing it with an open breather on the oil filler. That lets un metered air into the engine. On a MAF car, that's bad. It is probably the cause of your bucking too.

Fuel pressure is too low. 38 psi is a good starting point.

Best plug would be a stock heat range explorer plug.
