No matter how many times I play the 2 clips on your site there just isnt a big difference in sound between the two. In fact from what my ears tell me the stock mufflers seem a bit louder but with slightly less gurggle. Enjoy em anyways I guess.

I hear what you're saying (no pun intended). FWIW - I installed these and there is a difference. I think they sound better. They also look much better. IMO recordings can be affected by many things such as the recording equipment, the speakers you're listening with and surrounding conditions during recording.

Yeah this is what I thought too, but sound clips aren't always the best. I will still be going with Bassani's exhaust but these don't sound bad either. Go scare the hell out of some ricers .

As much as I love flows, I just didn't like the sound of that compared to stock. If I had an 05, I would probably just keep the stock muffs and go with a O/R midpipe.

I think flows sound better on the last generation 4.6 and on 5.0 motors.

I had my Flowmaster American Thunder Kit installed today. There IS a difference. They have a much deeper and throatier tone. Nice sound right out of the box. I can't wait until they are broken in. I would recommend them, but realize it is a personal preference.

I'm thinking about going with the Flowmaster mufflers too. I'm looking for something that will be deeper sounding and enhance that burble when I let off the gas, and something that is a little louder but not a LOT louder than stock. Will the Flows fit the bill?

I love my Flowmaster American Thunder axle-backs. I've had them on for about 2,000 miles of commuting, and still think they are exactly the sound that a modern muscle car should have. I listened to sound clips before I bought them, but the true sound of them doesnt really come across. I was crossing my fingers, and thinking that for the low price, it was worth the risk. Now after I've had them on, there is no way I'd take them off.

There *is* drone _if_ you give it a large amount of throttle while under about 1900 rpms, but since GT's cruise at about 2200 - 2400 rpm, it isnt a problem at all. That drone is just there to say "hey idiot, you're lugging the motor -- downshift already!" LOL... There isnt any drone at other rpms.

I'm extremely pleased. I am glad I didnt spend hundreds more for the Bassanis -- I know they are nice (I liked them on my C5) but seriously, I'm perfectly happy with the Flowmasters.

Excellent. Thanks for your input. The Flows sound like they'll be ideal. I too don't want to spend gobs of money on mufflers/pipes/whatever. This will be the first mod to my pony; might do CAI, pullies and tune eventually, or might not. But I definately want it to sound more like a muscle car, and also the tips look a lot better than stock.

Flowmasters

I got my flowmasters today. Took about an hour to install. Had the driver's side installed and passenger side still stock and there is a difference in sound. Deeper rumble from the flowmasters but I thought they might be alot louder. Also there is no drone with this setup. BTW got mines from lmperformance.com quick service and cost 300.00 shipped.

I would like to know what Flowmaster axle back you guys with no drone have because my Flows drone like a SOB. They droned with the stock h-pipe, and drone beyond decription with the o/r h-pipe. Most of the drone seems to be around 1500RPMs. I'm use to loud exhaust with drone hell I've had this combo on 3 other GTs (90, 96, & 02) and loved it, but it sounds like crap on my 06. Lots of drone, super raspy, and hella loud.

the raspy sound comes from the O/R pipe. if you had hi-flow cats, it would help out. are you trying to accelerate in too high of a gear at 1500 RPM? if so, thats where your drone comes in. if not, i dont know what is wrong. mine sound good.

Flowmasters

Dan02GT check the link at the beginning of the thread Flowmasters did some R&D on this custom setup to reduce or eliminate droning. On my recently installed system only 1 day there is no drone. Not sure if that is going to change after they are broken-in. I am pleased so far and for these being flowmasters they are pretty tame.
