Hey Guys,

I noticed something strange with my fuel tank on the weekend. When I filled up the tank, only the driver side fuel tank would fill up and the passenger side tank would remain empty. After the driver side tank was full, fuel started to spill out of the tank itself. So I am think that there is something blocking the connection between the passenger and driver side fuel tanks. Any advise? Has this happened to anyone else?

what year is your car? there was an issue with the early cars, so they redesigned the tank.

It is an 05, so I think the tank itself might have to get replaced...of course this happens after my warrenty is up =(

some of the replacement tanks have had the same problem. mine did for a while. I suggest using a slower setting when fueling for now. see if that helps first. some have also had success when they flip the nozzle upside down when fueling. i have not tried that method.

Mines an 07 and I have the fill problem also. I turn the nozzle upside down and it fills fine. Just look retarded with the nozzle upside down.

Yeah, I tried the filling slow method and it didn't solve anything. I will try flipping the nozzel around. That is weird how the replacement tanks have had the same problem.

My 07 does it as well. It seems to vary with the phase of the moon. One day it fills fast just fine, another day, I get 6 gallons in and have to slow to a crawl to finish.

Take note of the temperature at the time of fill up, I don't know exactly what the problem is with filling these tanks up, but if turning the nozzle upside down helps, it would lead me to believe it is pressure related. Not that it really fixes the issue any, just some random mumblings.

So these stangs have two separate fuel tanks that are connected?

Same tank with a crossover tube. My car is an early '05 and I've never had this problem.
