Hey everybody. I just wanted to introduce myself. I just ordered a 2006 Vista Blue (new color for 06') Mustang GT. It should arrive in about 6 weeks so I decided to join the Mustang forums and learn a little about the new 3 valve.

I am new to Stangs, this is my first one. I am in Memphis, TN. Any body else in here from Memphis?

To tell about me I am a Senior at The University of Memphis, a business major. I don't get into car rivalries, especially not "Camaro vs. Mustang". I love anything thats fast. My last 2 cars were Z28s, a 93 and a 99. There is no Camaro for now, so I thought I would give the Mustang a try since my 99' Z28 was totaled by some chick in a full size Chevy pick up two weeks ago. It was her fault, so the insurance money made a nice down payment.

I also like to race. My drag car is a nissan 240SX with an RB25DET motor swap and about a million other mods, so I don't really do the whole "import vs. domestic" thing either. The Stang will be a daily driver and see some auto X along with a little drifting.

My first planned mod is suspension. If H&R releases thier coilovers by the time my car gets here I will go with those along with sway bars and a camber kit. Then Borla exhaust and some kind of intake. When my sissy little factory 235/55/17s wear out I will throw on some 18 inch rims. Probably a gunmetal or dark gray of some sort. NO CHROME...EVER!!!!

Well, I think everyone knows where I stand now, so I am happy to be a new member and it is nice to meet everyone.

So, now that that is over, any recomendations on an intake?

Welcome future new owner. I am a recently new owner, July 9, and this is also my first Mustang GT.
I have a 350Z so, like you, I'm not into the import vs domestic thing either since I grew up liking both cars.
There quite a few CAIs out there (most notably, JLT, Steeda, K&N, C&L) and pretty much everybody who as one of these highly recommends them.
So, you'll have to do some searching and researching in the forum as to which one you'd want to go with since they all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Welcome, and congrats on your new car! If by intake you mean cold air intake then you have a lot to choose from. jt14894 stated the most common CAIs that people are using, but I really haven't seen that big of a difference between the kits. The only problem is that you need to get your car tuned or use one of the hand programmers, but most people are getting around 15-20rwhp from this, so it is a worthy purchase.

A 350Z TT very nice!!
I've heard of some GT owners getting their GT via the X-plan, but I think that's for employees only. However, I could be wrong.
If anybody could get it, I'd check it out if I were you.
I could've gotten mine through my company discount (Citigroup), but instead I paid MSRP. I totally forgot about it, but it was already too late.
Oh well!!

thanks for the info...you work for citi i live in brandon like not far from the citi building...do you go to sonics on hillsborough on saturdays? im one of the founding members of the 350z club of florida website is 350zclubofflorida.com check it out sometime..

Congrats on the new car, I ordered my Vista blue GT on 7/1

Does anyone know what the Vista blue looks like? I know it replaced the sonic blue and on brads site the color looks dark, but on here..

https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/2006fleetshowroom/displaycolors.asp?Model=Mustang

the vista blue looks lighter than windevil blue. So I am hoping that it is a mix up in the site and the vista and windevil blue got switched.

the x-plan is not for ford employees, its for ford suppliers and the like, (factory workers that make ford parts etc) ive used it 2 times....and now on my 06 gt vista blue that i ordered on 6/21....you dont have to work for ford, ford employees get a different plan...

Go back to your dealer. They have the 06' color charts now and you can see a full page view of it. It is more blue then the sonic blue. Not really lighter or darker, just less of a purple tint. It is a beautiful color. Mine will have white stripes front to back. Can't wait to get it. Congrats on yours.

Ford employees used to get the Z-plan. My grandfather worked for Ford and he had it, I am not sure now. He passed so I have no idea.

Sounds good to me, I thought it would be like Sonic according to brads site but when I saw that almost baby blue on the Ford site... :jaw:

Now I feel better knowing in getting blue and not sky or baby blue

Just got my 05 GT Conv
Black w/Black Top/Grey Interior with 19inch spoke wheels.

Has anyone had the XFM or Sirius radio installed after market? Also, does anyone know any good local store near Manhattan Beach for after market products? I really love this car and its my first Ford. I used to have a Audi TT Conv.
Cheers
