Hello every one. I'v been reading post on this web site for quite some time now. Great site!

I have a '65 coupe that is going under a serious transformation. I'v got it on a rotisserie. Stipped every spec of paint and repaced all the rust. I've gutted the back half of the car and built a new full length subframe that is 32 3/8" wide (same as the front subframe). It follows the profile of the stock frame thought so that I can keep a back seat (custom no doubt).

I ordered the front suspension from Scott's Hot Rods. It is daul A arm air bag set up. I haven't settled on the rear suspesion yet. It will be some sort of four bar. I'm using a 9" that will be flanked by a pair of 345/30/18 Michelin Piolits.

I want to build a 427W and couple it to a 6-speed. This brings me to my question:

Which trans (Tremec, Borg Warner, ect)?
Where can I get one?
What mods to do (Trans tunnel mod, ect)?

Thanks, Kirk.

Richmond 6 speed (R.O.D.)
Minimal "clearancing" of the tunnel crossmember required for shift rods to clear
Can purchase one through Summit or a local dealer

Info on my swap can be found here

Thanks.

I've looked into those. I'll try to talk to them on the phone Monday.

BTW. I'm interested mainly in the wide ratio 6-speed. I'd like to have a .50 top gear.

Why? 50% is quite a drop. Have you run the numbers with your proposed setup (trans ratio, tire size, rear gear ratio) ? Are you running FI or carb. If carb I would seriously take into considerations your cam specs before finalizing ratios. If you post your rear end ratio I'll make you a chart for the Viper spec T-56 (.5 OD) and 345/30-18's

I was thinking 3.73. I would think that If I went lower than that that first gear would be about useless. The tires are about 25.125" tall. 14" wide, wall to wall Like a steam roller!!

The whell that I'm seriously considering are the Budnik "Cobalt".

My main use for this ride will be cruising the streets.

But I do want the show it and take it to the track every now and then.

Well, here's the chart. As you can see you would really have to flyin to utilize the Viper spec (.5 OD) T-56
