So my gt40 heads are pitted really bad around the water jackets. So I’m now looking to replace the heads. I have a 302 with an e303 cam with factory pistons. I was told to get afr 185 heads. Do these bolt right up with my set up? What extra costs will I encounter? Will they use the same rockets I have on my gt40 heads? And if so can I just swap them out?

Do you have pedestal mount or stud mount rockers (or rockets, either way)? If it was me these are the heads I would put on that motor:

185cc SBF Enforcer Cylinder Head

Absolutely the best bang for the buck. TFS makes great cylinder heads but they are about twice as expensive. Edelbrocks are just riding the brand and are over priced. BluePrint makes good parts so I would not hesitate to buy a set of they cylinder heads either.

I have AFR 185 heads on a 331 and love them. That said, when mocked up on my previous stockish 302 the intakes hit the pistons and I had to dremel them to get clearance.

I am told the 165s will clear.

The blue print 190 is the same raw casting as the enforce just different guide/valve sizes and machine work for pedestal versions blue print sells, they are the ones who paid china (proheader) who then had the yongyu factory copy them from a dart pro1 head. The afr enforcer now has a 1.90 valve option for stock piston clearance but its still stud mount.

For a direct swap with no real parts issues a pedestal mount afr 165 renegade head would be the better option plus its emissions legal if needed., the small valve enforcer head lose a good amount of flow dropping to the 1.90 valves, is a none egr casting and still need stud mount rockers

can't go wong with either Tfs casting but will need extra parts.

Budget as budget gets but will need to buy other parts. Vevor now brands three of the 5 available China white label heads on fleabay for under $600 A pair, downside is valve spring change is pretty much a must and its a crapshoot on what castings you get. They literally buy from all the China suppliers and use the same part number even though the castings are very different since they sell it as a stock replacement. I personally do not like the speed master castings and have been shipped those before.

From vevor I've seen the small port speedmaster casting, Steven suns 175 casting witch is what lmr sells as the sve 175 now, and the yongyu pro1 copy aka the afr enforcer casting . There all 11/32 - 2.02/1.60 valves & stud mount, but can make a decent head for under 1k budget after buying springs and good rocker studs, used a set on a 5.0 F150 budget rebuild with some Btr LS style springs swapped in.

Hmm makes me wonder where my Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads are made. Quick google search didn't really say anything except:

But ChatGPT says they are, hmm.

Edit: NM, TrickFlows own website says made in the USA.
