New hood...where to paint?

might be a stupid Q but i just got a 3" cowl hood and i was wondering how you guys get them painted.....do you just go to a paint shop and give them the hood and tell them the type of color? how much does that cost? do you paint them yourselves?

I went to a local paint shop and had them to paint mines several times, the first time i drop my car off with my hood so they could paint the top of my finders to blend in with my hood(that was back in 98 1 kid money was not a thing) but the last time i just had my hood painted and when i put it on after i waxed the whole car (not the hood) you could not tell I didn't have the fenders painted) the most I payed was $300 with fenders, the least was $200

In my case the car was a custom color and I didn't have the color code. So they used some sort of camera to generate the color match. After they had that I just left the parts I needed painted instead of the whole car.
