I really would love to get one of the new Mustang 5 speed automatic trannies for my 67.

Will they bolt up to a 351W?

no...the bellhousing pattern is not the same.

Only it's made in France and has no dipstick to check the fluid level. Those are the two of the three reasons I ordered my 06 GT with the manual transmission

I don't know what trans the V6 has but the V8 unit has to have the fluid level checked by a "qualified technician"

Bosses Jag was like that. No user servicable parts...but, after much Google searches, and phone calls, we discovered that there is a fill plug nearly impossible to see. Hidden by a cast metal formation right under the plug. I suspect this trans is the same. All you can do is add fluid. I finally found service data, and to put fluid in this thing required a service computer to show trans temp, and fluid is "supposed" to be added based on temp. THe dealer (closest in D.C.) estimated $300-500 to change the filter and replace fluid. We ordered a filter and pan gasket from an import shop in California, AND th $10 a bottle Z trans "special" synthetic trans fluid...filled it to the plug level cold and caled it good.
I wrote all this cause I suspect this is the same type of trans, if not the exact same one, and you may run into the same crazy hassle dealing with it.

The French started it but it took greedy USA politicians to screw it up. We used to have a saying here in Louisiana, "we've got the best politicians money can buy" That still holds true in "Nawlins"

just dig a 30 foot wide ditch about ten feet deep all along the US/Mexico border... put crocodiles or alligators in the ditch as well as remote firing stations on the us side.. take all that soil dug out and give it to new orleans to help reinforce the levies... problem solved LMAO

It is the same tranny they have been using in the Explorer and Ranger since around '99. 5r55e is its name. Search some Ranger/Explorer boards and see what they are having to say about them. I have one in my wife's '05 Explorer and the thing is butter smooth. My only complaint is that the computer makes it slow to react to WOT.
