Hey Guys,

Today I finally purchased a 40th Aniv. Black Mustang and I am loving it to death. However, I can deffintly tell I need an exhaust, this thing is quiet with a big "T", lol. So what kind of exhaust souds good on these cars? I have always been a GT guy, until I saw what the insraunce would be...

So anyway, what have you guys' done to your cars to make them a little faster, but nothing way out there (don't forget, it's brand new, so I still have the warrenty for 3yr/36K)....HELP ME OUT GUYS'...I need it

Thanx,
Abel

you really can't do anything that won't void a portion of your warranty except put a K&N filter in your stock air housing. You could put a CAI on and you can keep your stock intake put that on when you take it in for service, for an exhaust you can get a bolt on reverse y pipe and you could keep your stock exhaust and put that back on if you need to get anything down there worked on....but you know ford has to prove in court that the mod you made caused the problem. an under drive pulley also is something that is commonly done, however you will need a harmonic dampener install/remove tool (you can get form autozone for a refundable deposit), um...yeah keep all your stock stuff you can replace it back fine. beforey ou take it into get worked on, however they will note if you dont do it one time and sometimes thats a pain to change it all over everytime.

Bassani exhaust is what I always reccomend. Its a stainless catback system, so it'll be around forever, you don't have to worry about rust like Mac or flowmaster

Does Bassani have a low growl to it...or is it an annoying LOUD sound all the time?

Another question, when I do get duals...will I need a new Back bumper? Will I need one with the holes already cut out? If so, isn't this gonna cost an arm and a leg?

well i've still got my stock bumper on it, I WANT the GT bumper because the looks of the car say that you need the cutouts, lol. the only reason I don't have one so far (besides the money lol) is the fact that i want to find one in zinc yellow so i dont have to pay another $200 to get it painted.

I have a 03 V6 stang and i put a flowmaster super 40 and i put a 3" tip turned down, and it's extremly deep and with the tip it has quiet a bit of gargle to it... it sounds nice...real loud..i also put a Cold Air Intake and i can feel the difference..

bassani will give you a louder sound, somewhat deeper, but that comes from consolidating the exhaust into one pipe, and by doing that you are losing quite a few horses you could gain from the whole dual setup.

I personally chose MAC over flowmasters for 2 reasons... 1) that the flowmasters give a loud popping sound hwen the engine is slowing down, which makes me think of uncle ben....and 2) i got a good deal on the MAC's from a friend who totaled his old stang, lol.

Mac is also a good set up, but mac is quieter than bassani.
Mac has 2 mufflers, bassani has 1, but goes into 2 tail pipes that hang below the v6 bumper.

So if you guys' could pick a set-up (dual only, no more puny 1 outlet) which would it be? I know Flows sound really nice and aren't too expensive, but as 2 outlets would it be ok? Bassani is awesome, however, I don't like how they only have one muffler...doesn't that just seem weird? It should have 2 if you have 2 outlets? JMHO!

So no matter what set-up I get, I can still get it to go under my BUMPER THAT I HAVE NOW? I won't HAVE TO ge the GT bumper? If I do end up getting the bumper a year or so down the road, how will that effect my system then?

Thanx for the replies and help guys', I am not much of a V6er Stang man, but I couldn't pass up the price!

-------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------

One more question...which CAI should I get? Any brand or type better than the other?

I have a custom set-up that fits fine under the bumper with the tips pointing straight out of the back. So it is possible to keep the stock bumper you just need to have the hangers adjusted so it works.
