tid bit of 411, 240 amp'ers have the same application on Ford Turbo Diesel trucks, with a different mounting case. The first time a mustang appliaction for this alternator has been brought to fruition by PA Perfromance. A $20 or $40 upgrade for 40 more amps, its a no brainer.

Its always better to have more than less........ :D regarding alternators...
Im running a MK8 E-fan, MSD box, some amps, EQ.......I figured WTF, why not-Just go fir it for an extra $40 ya get 40 amps. Im running a 200amp now anyhow. Just wanted the bling!

What do you need that much power for? Do you have a "system"?

Yeah, like the saying goes "too much HP is just enough".

Yeah, i'll admit, if my 3G ever dies and i don't get another one for $25, i'd be interested in getting one. It's just tough to pass up a junkyard alt for so cheap when they work so great. Plus, that one you have would look SOOOO out of place under my hood with all that bling

YOU GOT IT BUD, NORMAL PEOPLE WOULDNT UNDERSTAND OUR THINGKING HAHHAA PLUS-I JUST BROKE UP WITH MY GF, SO MY EMOTIONS ARE RUNNING WILD AND SHINY CAR PARTS MAKE ME FEEL BETTER ..

how much do these things go for, again? i'm running an ignition and a fuel pump, and my alternator can't take it.. my pump whines and my lights flicker... it's either i need a higher amp alternator or i've got a bad ground somewhere :/.

Healthy stock 3G's can bench test out to 170ish as it is (but their low-end can lack).

That said, I like your thinking. It's easier for an alt to run at less duty cycle, and since it's chromed (extra heat retention), having it run at less DC could be helpful.

Enjoy.

Hey Hissin-

The internals, diodes and all on there chrome plated alternators are heavier duty due to the chrome plating Rick from pa perf stated. He stated he has never had a chrome plated alt fail, pretty cool. There customer service is excellent. That bad boy was bench tested after being built and sent out and put out 110 amps @ idle and a full 240 i think @ 3000rpms he stated as well. Now thats power babyeeeeeeeeeeeeee ahahaha

For the other member-It costed me a total of $415 with chorime plating, upgrade and discount, being i have purchased many alt's from them in the past on other stangs.
