Well, it's time to throw down a new paint job on my 89 LX Stang.

I've got all the body work done, and am ready for the primer and then the paint.

I'll be using an Acrylic Enamel paint on this project, and am undecided if I will use a clear coat on top of that.

It doesn't really have to be a show stopper, I just want it to look good.

I ran the search and noticed that several on here have re-painted their own cars, but did not find anything referencing the amount of primer/ paint that was used.

It's been a while since I last painted a stang of this body style, and I basically need to know how much primer/paint I will need to get this thing done.

Thanks for the help!

I run with A/E and I still sprayed clear over it. It's extra protection, and makes your car look wet. You can always polish your car then also.

I have never shot AE, i paint with polyurethane. You only need to primer over areas that are either not perfectly flat or are exposed metal. If you primer the whole car, you will be blocking the primer FOREVER. Even if you have a pneumatic wet sander and dont mind wearing your arms out, its really not necessary if your paint on the car is relativley flat. Just remember that your body work means everything. Paint only hides color, it wont fix even the smallest imperfection in the surface.
