Its been a while since I've posted but here is the story.

I was in Boise at the Night Fire Nationals and in the 3rd round of eliminations I heard a loud bang on launch and the car almost hit the wall. Luckily I kept it off the wall but the 8.8 rearend was toast. I had my axel tubes welded but it wasn't good enough. Broke the welds and put my slick right into the fender well. Luckly no damage to the fender but cut the slick to shreds. Thank God for tubes in the tires! I am a firm believer in tubes in the tires now. So we got the car home and tried to straighten it but no chance. I tried to find a 8.8 from a junkyard but couldn't. So I decided to go with a Moser bolt in 9" with 33 spline axels, spool, 3.89 gears, and a nodular 3rd member. I was a little worried at first about the extra weight and geometry of the suspension. After a late Friday night of thrashing on the car we took it up to Spokane for testing. The track surface sucked due to it being closed all season and final opened up for 4 races with no track prep. After playing with it and noticing I set the pinion angle positive 2 (DUMB) we re set the pinion angle at negative 2 and headed for Bonanza Raceway. First pass I went 7.27 at 93mph with the 1/4 mile conversion being like 11.35 I was in shock. All my doubts were put at ease. Went 4 rounds that day and headed home with a smile of success. Sorry so long.

Am I mistaken? Did you run a 11.3 with only 370rwhp?

That was with a 3.6 pulley and no headers on a base tune. Now I'm running a 3.3 and headers and a race tune. Not sure what power its making but I love it.

That's very doable, my 2000 GT went 11.97 w/286RWHP, 3150# race weight.

Must be a bright atlantic blue thing to kill rear ends. I spun the axle tube on my car a few years back and sliced the slick open as well.

No problem I'm glad I could help. I started another site with more tech info but not so much focused on my car like my personal site was.

All UPR Adjustable race uppers/lowers & tubular K-member, Lakewood 70/30's & 50/50's, stock cut GT rear springs, 14/175 front coil over springs. Best 60 foot was a 1.56. That was after many, many, many long nights at the track of adjusting suspension and tweaking things.

damn, howd you run 11s with only 285rwhp?

Was it just cause of the weight reduction and slicks?

Help a noob out

Properly setup suspension, weight reduction, 6800 RPM launches, powershifting, break or go fast attitude. In comparison look at my signature and see my Mach 1 that makes 180RWHP more than my GT but has only gone 12.10 on 18" nittos. If I had the power from the Mach 1 in the body of my GT with the built rear and suspension the car would run high 10's (GT weighed 3150 with me and Mach weighs 3700 with me).
