Alright, I reached that point where I need to start putting together a motor for this spring. My last setup consisted of a stock 5.0 with asp underdrive pullies, a systemax II intake, fox throttle body conversion, and a PTK turbo kit running at 9.5 psi. Well I found a buyer for the PTK kit and have the option of getting money plus a set of AFR 185s with the spring upgrade and 1.6 roller rockers or just all money. But needless to say I don't even know if I wanna go 351W yet or 302. The way the mustang was running last time it was fast as hell and didn't even get pulled on to badly by a modded 04 cobra. But thats nto enough for me. Unfortuanly I dodn't even know what I dynoed at because I was running pig rich to begine with. I got a set of twin turbo headers coming as I'm gonna be building a TT mustang now. But I don't know if I trust running a stock 5.0 block and have no where near the money to budget in a dart block at this point. My final combo would probably be a 331 or 347, AFR 185s, F303 cam or stock cam, systemax II intake, and 10 psi. But I don't know if this would produce block splitting power. Which is why I was thinking of just going 351 so as to not have to worry about it. Can anyone lend me an opinion.

AHHHHH, to be a hot rodder! Aren't all these problems great? I know what your going through, I in the middle of my build up now but I can tell you that usually my budget dictated what I did. Good luck!

a 351 is not going to completely solve your block spliting worries. its still a two bolt main block. if i was you, i would get the heads, then budget on a short block. CHP, DSS, keith craft all make good short blocks and can be had for a couple thousand ready to install.

Yea but I know I can run 500RWHP on a a 351W with a good tune and not have to worry about anything.

also, I was calling junk yards all day and finally found a 351W out of a 1995 ford f-250. That would definitly be a hydrolic roller correct?

If u go 351.....any roller block will be barely stronger than a 302. Ask Rick 91GT on here...he builds motors. If u get one, get a 69-74 if u want to have any chance of having a stronger block than a 302.

Personally, i would wait and do a h/c/i turbo kit and run that while u save up for a dart. If it blows, spend $300 to get another block and be back on the road. What are your goals though? If 500rwhp is it, then u might want to go with a 69-74...but if u do and the thing blows, u lost a couple thousand. If i were to go for that much power, i would just get a dart or a block that i KNOW for SURE will handle it. No point in playing with fire.

I've got a 351w TFS-R intake with the black upper for sale...check my link.
