i went to the track last thursday and ran some sad numbers
14.9 at 95.x
mods-cobra intake, headers, cai, 2.5 x pipe, dynomax bullets, moroso cai
i ran the same with the stock intake, no headers and no cai
the biggest disappointment is that there was this stock 92 gt that was running the same thing as me
but when we raced, he ran a 14.4@94-95 on nittos :owned:
totally sucks
the 60ft's didnt come out on my timeslips, so im guessing thats the problem
another thing, i ran a 15.2 at 95.0 spinning through all of 1st
and a 15.0 at 95.1
i know the main problem is the driver (ME) :damnit:
my question is, you guys think tires will help my car alot? think my car can run any better as it is???

How come everytime somebody posts times that are slow for that combo, people tell them to get gears? Gears arent the problem unless you have 2.73's or an AOD car.

It honestly sounds like the driver but MPH is still pretty low, like 5-7 MPH low. It's possible to shift slow enough or at the wrong RPM and hurt the mph, or if you spin enough and shift, then bog. When it starts to spin and you shift and it carrys into second, dont shift into third right away, especially if you dont shift fast, it will just bog. I have also seen people spin the tires really bad in first, put it in second early, at like 4000 when it's spinning and completely bog it down.

hey whats up...im new around here but i think i can help you out with this...i have 91 gt with a 331 stroker in it but that beside the point...i ran my car bone stock at the track...i ran a 14.9 @ 109 MPH...your driving is definitely key...if you running stock street tires you can't just dump the clutch at 4000...since 5.0s are torque haulers, launching can be a challenge...i suggest this...instead of dumping the clutch at wherever your dumping it, try revving your motor to about 2500-3000 rpms and let out the clutch fast but don't pop it...at that point you be the judge of how much gas to give it after that to make it hook up...it worked for me. try it out.

well i know the driver is one problem
when the car was stock i ran a 15.1@91
then i put a x-pipe and ran a 14.9 at 95 with a little race gas($5worth)
then i put the cobra intake, headers, cai but messed up the timing and i ran
16.0@88
fixed the timing and ran 14.9@95 same as before
the mph did go up a little
i know the 60 ft were in the 2.5s for sure
i got the gears, i just need the money

if you have 2.73s, you do NEED Gears. With 2.73s and an AOD in my car i ran constant 2.4 60's with NO SPIN. My mph was the same as guys running 13.8s but i was running 14.8s, i still suck at driving and have yet to see a 60 ft under 2.1 even with ET streets "but i do have issues right now" the biggest thing is practice, learn your shift points, i gained 3 mph just by learning the best shift points in my car!!!
