New Starter ??

Well, I finally put the new starter on my '91 LX 5.0 convertible. Tomorrow, I will install the new starter relay and make sure the battery is fully charged.

Is there something else I am supposed to do with the fan blade before I attempt to start the vehicle for the first time with the new starter?

Larry, you lost me. why would you need to do anything with the fan blade (you mean the cooling fan blade, right?)?

I thought I read somewhere that after installing a new starter, you are supposed to turn the blade by hand, with the serpentine belt installed, to seat the new starter??

Did I dream this?

I am sure you read it properly and it may very well be valid. I simply have never heard this.

FWIW, i think you can turn the fan blade by hand all you want (assuming a clutch fan) but it wont turn the motor. you would likley need to put a 15/16" socket on the crank bolt and turn it that way.
