I have a '89 mustang gt, I am considering changing the steering wheel to a later model mustang wheel, does anyone know what fits? Do's, dont's? Or is that just a bad idea?

89 is pre airbag, right? If so you have lots of choices.

I did it.

Mounting an airbag wheel on a non-airbag colume puts the steering wheel way too close to you.

You'd need to swap to a later 90+ column, and then you can run an SN95 wheel.

basically it didn't work. When i actually drove the car, it felt very awkward. My OEM wheel is back on, with a wheelskins leather wrap

yes it's an "89, pre air bag. I hope to figure something out soon. My wheel looks good but has separated from metal ring it turns and twists, I'm sure it will tear up soon.

I also meant to include in this post the possibilities of changing the steering colums also? for those wheels that wont fit the fox body. Also I'm unclear about 90 - 93, do they not have tilt?

That's something they cheaped out on when they went with airbags. I do not mind where the Fox steering wheel is, but not everyone is my height.

Have you checked with the aftermarket to see what Grant or someone has?
