should a brand new motorcraft fuel pump make any noise at all?

I can't even hear the thing prime.

the reason i ask is because i think the brand new motorcraft pump i put in is bad.

FP is only 30 at idle and in second gear at WOT it starts pinging real bad and the FP drops to 15 and keeps dropping.
any suggestions? thanks

You might want to check the pressure regulator first, but the pump may be bad. I'm on my 3rd one right now

my mechanic thinks its not the regulator because it is dropping the FP way too much to be a bad regulatior.

Why not just get a new Walbro fuel pump? Mine is pretty quite and a lot of people have had luck with them.

My Walpro 190 makes no noise that I can hear. It seemed odd at first because the priming sound was a deep buzz-type whirr instead of the usual whine.

I just put the FRPP M-9407-C50 190lph kit in mine, and I though it was really quiet - not as quiet as a chuch mouse, though. I haven't used it much (I only started it a couple times, and drove it around for a hour.) but it seems fine. I don't have a FP gauge, though. Perhaps I've just grown accustomed to pump that has gotten louder with age and forgot what it was supposed to sound like.

However, it sounds like you have a problem. Perhaps it's a wiring issue. Corroded connectors causing a voltage loss?

Super plugged filter??

i have a walbro 190 fuel pump and I always hear my fuel pump prime right before I start the car, and I can hear it while i'm at a traffic light, so I think they should make some noise while operating.
