ya the modularford forum is where i found out about them. and they are gonna be running 2 different combustion chamber sizes too. the stock 42.45 and a 38cc which would take a stock 4.6 2v up to around 11.5:1 compression. sick!

I would like to see actual numbers and dyno graphs on these heads..........then maybe I can justify buying them in the future.

If you are not on a waiting list for these new heads, you will be waiting awhile for them. They are planning a end March/early April release. The base pair of heads is around $1995.00 IIRC.

That has to be a typo. Nobody is going to drop 5 grand on a set of heads.

You are right, nobody would drop that much...but who would even drop 2500 on a set? That is still a super high price

That's in Canadian dollars....with the exchange rate it brings it down to about $2,000 US....which is about what one would figure for new, aftermarket heads.

Hell, I remember when CNC ported PI heads cost nearly that much.

I didn't realize they were Canadian funds...good call..

I remember when the PI heads were that much...now you can get them for almost half that!

I can't wait for these to come out. If you can really make 400rwhp with these, cams, and other bolt-ons, I would be set. I can see it being possible, since 5.0s are so easy to get power out of nowadays without FI. It wasn't like that back when they came out, but after several years companies develop new technologies for parts and it just gets better and better as time goes on. I think our 2Vs are going to be NA beasts down the road (not that they already can't be).

I know a lot of people here have visions of 400rwhp N/A, but to be honest it doesn't matter what intake or heads you put on it, you're going to have to get pretty high strung with the 2V 4.6L in order to see those power levels. I doubt many stock rotating assemblies will be up to the task to be honest. Spinning the stock cast crank, powdered rods and hypereutectic pistons into the 7,000-7,500RPM range isn't going to gain you much in the lines of engine longevity. The major downfall with these engines doesn't seem to be lack of flow in the top end, for the most part its lack of sufficient displacement in order to generate the hosepower levels that seems to hold them back.

I think the biggest restriction is the weak internals.

ya i would have to agree the biggest weak link on these are the rods and cast crank. ford shoulda just put the forged 8 bolt in all and been done with it. honestly it woulda saved them money. because of all the r/d done for the 6 bolt and other windsor 8 bolts. and then the facilities to build those others. shoulda left it at one crank and one facility

What exactly is wrong with the crank? 600rwhp aint bad out of a cast piece if you ask me.

just honestly i think that they shoulda spent time on one good crank like the forged 8 bolt instead of doin different ones because then they could have spent that time and money on somethin else to make it even better.

I agree that WAS dumb on thier part. They should have also used forged internals in the 2v also. I mean did they think that people were NOT gonna mod them Oh well.

thats what im sayin that money they spent on r/d for the cast crank coulda been spent on stuff like redesignin the intake manifold or doing some upgrades on the heads or improving something on the suspension. it doesnt matter how good something is stock it can always be improved upon. which i think it woulda been better to do things that way.
