I'm going to be eventually building up my '69 Coupe with a 302 (will be 347) and a rebuilt C4 about 80k miles ago. This car will be my daily driver, and will see occasional strip use. I was looking at maybe a C6, but would really like that extra 4th gear. If someone could help me out here, it would be must appreciated. I'm used to dealing with manual transmissions, and am a complete n00b when it comes to autos.

Is it an easy swap? The AOD that is...also, what's the difference between the AOD and AODE?

AOD is regulated by a Thottle Valve (TV) cable from the accellerator linkage either on EFI or a carb. AODE is controlled electronically from the EFI computer. A stock AOD won't last long without mods. On the other hand, your C-4 won't last long behind a 347 either, it'll need costly upgrades to last ( but it still won't last forever).A C-6 would be much cheaper either way, it'll handle anything you throw at it and the savings will buy a lot of gas. Downside is the parasitic loss.
