I recommend picking up a 1987 Mustang Service Manual, a 1987 mustang electrical vacuum trouble shooting manual, and the 1987 mustang wiring diagrams. They can be found online and are great for reference.
That would be a good start and of course asking anything right here. Lots of talent and knowledge on Stangnet.

Thank you! I believe it to be original although it has been resprayed at some point. I'll be honest the color sold me from the second I saw the car listing hahaha

Dually noted! having access to the vacuum diagrams will be extremely helpful for getting the HVAC working!
