Im new to the tuning scene...I have a 94 cobra with a built motor. I have read alot of things about tuning this computer, and have a couple of questions. My motor is as follows

331
10.5 comp
AFR 205s set up by Ed Curtis
comp xe270hr
scorpion 1.6s
Victor 5.0 efi stage 3 portjob
Accufab 85 race tb-fox style
4in powerpipe
PMAS 6" velocity mass air calibrated to j4j1 ecu
Kooks 1 3/4 widebolt longtubes
factory ls1 injectors
Accufab adj reguator
190 intank pump

Since I put this together it has run flawlessly, power everywhere-idle to redline, I couldnt be happier...when I had it dynoed it put 382hp and 370lb on a Dynojet. I am located at 4600 ft in Utah.
Everyone on here has issues with idle problems, surging, running poorly...etc. I have just let the ecu do its thing, and Im happy. Everyone turns to the Tweecer, but I dont trust myself to tune it properly. I know theres more in there, but how much exactly? do you get more driveability than power? I would like to pick the brains of the experienced, and to learn in the process...thanks

I pulled in for my real world numbers, no cool down time. first pull...

this one I added some fuel, but pulled the belt to see what a Merzire electric waterpump and power pulleys would do...

You'd get both drivability and max power if you optimized your pcm

I can tell you my sig combo was just awful before I used a Tweecer to
make it behave like a little stocker

It surged, bucked, stalled out at lights, and would not idle at anything
less than 1200 rpm

After I got all the drivability issues half way decent I picked up a good
bit of max power with the maf transfer, spark/fuel tables

Yes you can use a Tweecer but you can use other methods as well

I would have to say ... ANYONE ... can tune their own car :Word:

Then again ... some just don't want to

They don't have the time or patience or ... what ever

I could not say if self tuning is the right thing for you

I had a lot of fun learning about the pcm and how it goes about doing
its thing and I dealt with some really cool peeps in the self tuning
community as well

I am kind of in same boat i have a 95 sc 5.0 with tfs stage 3 top end.I just purchased the QH tuner from moats and EA AND BE.MY car ran really good with my mods on stock comp.it ran flawless on the street.also had good performance.ran 12.20@125.i have only changed my maf curve and tring to get inj slopes correct.i cant believe the better power band.before i only ran a 56%load now im at 70% its noticable.im way off because im so comp. stupid but if your good with comp. and have the time to make small changes then datalog i think its good.you can also do cool things loke lower coolent temp/turn off rev. limitor and others.so go for it
