Hi guys, my name is Joe and I've owned my 1980 mustang since i was 14 (I'm now 22) it was given to me by my god father to be a father-son project but my dad never really liked cars. this car has gone thorugh many changes in my head but has always stayed at a temporary state of where should i go next. i painted the car myself my senior year of high school to a ford color. (vista blue) and is where she sits currently. I'm a tech at a shop and i also own a twin turbo supra. i also just moved to florida. ill let the pics do some talking and please don't hate her too much p.s. some of these pics are a bit old

The turbo that I'd put on a 302 would bury that little SR motor.

Looks like fun though. Will like to see the finished product.

Heh... What I typed and how I meant it did not come through as intended.

I really WOULD like to see how well an econ style motor actually does in that car.

What kind of power/torque does it make?

oo lol sorry bro I'm used to people attacking her. i would love to see it too. and i was going for just stock. my ka was built up a little bit but this sr was just going to be stock. i wanted to build a driver out of her. but with this engine being front sump, I'm still faced with what kept me from finish my ka swap. its stupid front sump bs. it fits like crap in the bay and it bugs me. i want to convert it to rear sump but its an aluminum pan. and the fox's cross member can be modified but the rack.... not so much

So long as you're putting at least 200 to the wheels, I think it'll be a fun ride.

Keeping the manual was definitely the way to go. You might want to consider upgrading to an 8.8 with a traction lock.

the car was a factory auto so i put in a hydraulic clutch pedal and master and 200 would be good daily. I'm just stuck on where to go from here

Welcome! I love that blue. Nice stang and motor, I'm a 180/240/270 guy as well. I'm curious the SR20 you have, I'm assuming its a boosted SR. Which model is it red top, black top, etc?

Nice, yes those are around 220. Give or take a few. I never got to introduce the SR to my 240. I have a few buddies running them with upgrades as well a few local friends running KA-T's. I myself could never decide on whether to boost my current KA or go through everything to get a SR. Car got totaled out before anything motor wise happened. Did have a little suspension work done, which was pretty amazing ha-ha.
