new to the classics

Just thought since I have been reading and searching so much on this forum I would introduce myself. I curently own 2004 mustang GT that I have pretty much built up until there isn't much stock left on it. Well I am finally done with it and really like how it came out but the streetability of a 600rwhp car isn't the greatest, so i started looking at a type of car that I can leave as is a cruise around in and basically just maintain. I really like the 69 mach 1's and they dont seem to be too astrinomical as far as price goes, but I know absolutely nothing about them. I just started researching different options they came with such as codes and production numbers and such. I also recently attended a classic car show and almost picked out every mach 1 owner and bombarded them with questions. I was hopeing i could get any tips or advice on whats out there and what kind of money I would be looking to spend for one that isn't in too bad of shape. I was hopeing I could pickj a decent one up for 20k but I dont know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know of one very nice '69 Mach I that was recently (within 3 months) bought for $23,000. The car has a 351, auto and nothing really special running-gear-wise, but is red with a nice original black interior, all the Mach I stuff (rear window slats, spoiler, etc. It has a few chips here and there but overall would make a great driver and weekend showcar. The nice thing about buying older cars is they will always go up in value. The bad thing about buying older cars, is they are older cars. You have to be patient with them sometimes, work on them sometimes and be prepared for a car that doesn't really work like a modern car of any kind. But it's nice to have something different, and something with a little character.

prices on mustangs also depend on where your located. in San Diego it pretty hard to find pretty much any fastback for under 15,000 in any shape.
