What's you driving position when racing? If your all laid back and racing in a "relaxed" street style position this can cause you to have to reach for the shifter and when you are trying to make quick shifts you may have a tendency to pull the shifter towards yourself instead of straight back into the 4th gear gate. I sit as close to the steering wheel as I can so I limit my movements in the car and so I don't have to reach for the shifter. THIS is the reason IMO that I hurt my car. I hadn't driven the car all winter and when I went to race it I had forgotten to readjust my seat and in my attempt to get my 11 second pass in I tried too hard and pulled the shifter towards myself instead of straight back, only mine went into 2nd. OUCH!

yeah you need to have the seat leaned up and keep your left arm's elbow kinda dug into your ribs with your left hand at the nine o clock position. that way you don't move your hand and pull the wheel towards the wall lol.i drive usually with my left hand at the 12 o clock position but that position naturally makes you want to move the wheel side to side. killercanary is right the closer you are to the shifter the better, to prevent missed shifts. i found this out myself several times after missing third, but mostly it was because i was nervous about starting drag racing. the more you practice the better you will get though.

thats a slight difference bro, it might not even be you differences in track temp and other stuff can account for that.
