I am not wanting to install the Fuel injection computer and harness quite yet but have NO idea how I'm going to be able to run this newer Style 5.0 distributor. Any ideas before I order a new one?

That dizzy will only work if you are running the EFI computer. If you are not running EFI yet you need something like this

Here is one that I put on a 95 302 in a friends 82 cj-7.

That mess of wiring on the firewall isn't from me. That is courtesy of the PO.

I originally bought it on ebay. The price should be around $100-130. They were available at Summit for about the same price but the only one I could find on their site was the "blueprinted" one for $225.00

You can buy a Chevy distributor or another way is to use a Ford Duraspark II style distributor. They were used in the late 70's and early 80's.

Available in junkyards or on eBay. Cheaper than the option above. You need the distributor and the control box.

One other thing, shakin66 - you need to make sure you have the right distributor gear. Some of the newer distributors have a steel gear, but those are only meant for the newer roller cam motors.

The nice thing about the ebay HEI style is it is simply a one wire hookup. no control box needed.

This is the guy I bought it from:
