Taillight upgrade?

I've got an 87 hatch 5.0 5spd.

Ok so my question (if someone could help, or if someone's possibly done this before)

Has anyone updated their taillight sockets to the 88-93 style or maybe even the sn95 setup?

Now I'm already fully aware that the slots and the studs on the newer sockets won't fit my housing holes unless slightly modified with a utility knife.

I've got multiple pony harnesses from fox to new edge gts an 6 cyls, but they all have slight differences.

On my fox the inner bulb has 2 wires as does the middle bulb but the outter bulb has like 6, can someone help me?

As far as I recall, the tail light housing themselves are swappable from 79 to 93.

Pick whichever ones you like the best. For me, it is 86 tails, hands down.

Nope 79-82 are a different tail panel panel/ housing lay out that will leak with 83 up style housings. 83-93 housings are interchangeable, though 79-87 use an 1157 prong type bulbs while 88-93 uses a 3157 wedge bulb for reverse and brakes yet they kept the prong type for turn signal...... Just need the pig tails and bulbs there pretty much the same retainers, Idk why you would bother changing them unless you can't find bulbs any more.
