This is the third time I have attended a NHRA national event. Only one way to describe it in person is then some!!!!!
To feel 16,000(2 cars)ground pounding HP going down the track at once is utterly amazing! The further you are down track, the more it feels as if everything inside your body is going to ooze out. That is awesome
Here are some pics and vids from Sunday.

19 years in a row to go to the Nationals in Dallas and i remember the first time under 5 seconds was Eddie Hill and he ran a 4.79. We were absolutely amazed. The tshirts have gone from speed limit 285 to 340 since then. I love the drags but hate the long wait when one of those bad boys dumps oil all the way down the strip. Go again, you will be official in about 7 years.

+10 on NHRA Drag racing I've been going to national events since the early 70's. The experience can't be described. You can 'hear' those nitro engines vibrating in you gut and of course the smell when they warm them up in the pits.

I've taken several die-hard NASCAR fans who quickly quickly became even bigger NHRA fans.

Here's to John Force making a full and complete recovery from his wreck with Kenny Bernstein! He's our main Mustang guy out there!

Oh yeah! It burns sooo good! You WILL see "grown" men cry! It's funny to see about 50 or so people standing there as the crew puts the car back together and then moments later watch about half or more of those people go running seconds after they fire up the engine The first time I went back in the late '90s, my bro-in-law and I looked at eachother wondering why the crew and driver were wearing a full face gas mask Oh my did we ever find out We had front row spots at the time.
I don't think there is any other experience like NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car in person! I've been a NASCAR fan since '92 and have been going to races every year since '96 and it still can't top NHRA in person!

Well, his son-in-law, Robert Hight has the quickest Mustang(and is current record holder)in history @ 4.646. Force has the fastest Mustang(3rd fastest speed)@333.58, just .74 MPH behind first! Hight is fifth @ 333.08.

Stuck in SN95land
Ford did really well designing a free flowing emissions legal setup this time. It's just too quite.

Courtesy of Glenn (HeavyGT) I went to the US Nationals in Indy this year.

Kool I'm not trying to steal your thunder but I'm gonna toss up a few shots I got. I was working on my panning skills in both day and night environments. I wanted to capture the speed with which the top fuel cars pass in a still photo. Not an easy feat by an means.

Favorite of the night right here:

Hell emay, you added to my thunder!!!!! Those are truely awesome pics! I went to the inagural NHRA event in Bristol for all 3 days. The night qualifying is awesome to watch(granted most of the runs are super slow, but it makes for a great fire show). Here is a link that shows the pic I took from the late '90s at Richmond of John Force doing a burnout. Then the next year I took it with me and had him sign it

Damn, I missed it again!! I don't understand, I live in the middle of downtown Richmond, and I haven't heard a single word about it.....

Either way, looks like you had a great time down in Dinwiddie KoolDawg. Those are some great pictures you've got there. Any plans to head to Richmond Dragway this coming friday? It's the last street legal race of the season...

I'm trying to stop by, and would love to meet another StangNet fellow. I'll be the short guy driving the other vista blue S197, most likely with a guy in a bright orange 1970 Nova SS.... You'll be able to pick us out. I'll have the bone stock S197, and he'll be in the car that LOOKS like it should run about 5 seconds faster than it actually does.....
