STATE POLICE - NJ TICKETING

Here's the latest NJ State Police Initiative (Radio Station 101.5 FM confirmed this info).

Starting today, New Jersey will launch 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. One million dollars will go to pay state troopers over-time.

There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways as follows:

I-295 North and South,
I-95

JerseyTurnpike North and South
I-80 East and West
I-287 North and South
I-78 East and West
I-195 East and West
I-280 East and West
Route 130 - North and South
Garden State Parkway - North and South

5 MPH above the limit can justify a ticket and every state
Trooper is supposed to pull a car over and
Write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes.

They have issued 30 brand new unmarked CrownVictoriacruisers and are bringing in all of their part-timers on full time. If you work
In NJ, NY, DE or CT, you will probably be on one of these highways. So, please be on guard and drive safely!

Starting August 15, the price of a violation to show your
Driver's license, registration or insurance card at the time you are stopped, increased from $44.00 to $173.00. (Keep these documents in your car). And the fine for not having all three documents is $519.00!


The fine for hand-held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00.

Long story short, don't speed, have all of your particulars up to date and you'll be fine. You almost make this sound as though the NJ State Police are doing something wrong?

Blitz's are nothing new. You gotta make money somehow. Might as well doing it enforcing the laws?

I rarely do more then 3-4 over with the stang and I do the speed limit with the beater (92 F150) or I'll see single digit mpg!

Brian, Not trying to make it sound as though they are doing something wrong. I have gotten used to doing 5 to 10 over on some roads without fear of ticket. Just trying to perhaps save someone a ticket and or insurance hike which can be costly.

that sucks. i drive 195 everyday, and most days 130. i am fine doing the speed limit though, because of my 4.10s i'm sitting at like 2500rpms speed limit, like 3k doing over.

thats why i don't speed i just get to the speed limit faster then most. hahah.

Well everyone flies down the turnpike, doing 80-85 in a 65 is ridiculous. Doing 1 mph over is breaking the law, not signaling a lane change, etc....you can also get yourself a careless or worst yet a reckless driving ticket. Its all up to officer discretion, the way some people drive i'd hit them with it all.

This is definitely accurate....Ive seen a TON of cops lately. I travel 295, 195, and 130 almost daily, and there has been an increase in their presence.

On the highways, the state troopers have completely unmarked Dodge Chargers, Ive seen Silver, White, and Black so far, and you cant tell until they throw on the lights.

As the economy shatters, police dept. budgets shrink...and theres only one way to make up for it. Write tickets....lots of them.

all these states come off with these things now and then... end of the month is always a tough time. there was an email not long ago about ksp doing this stuff but it was all fake.. Around here, long as there's a lot of trafffic going with the flow and keeping under 75 in a 70 your OK. Inside the metro limits where its 55, staying under 62 usually they're cool...

basically gotta keep the toes out of the injectors

I used to have the highest respect for police officers - I even wanted to be an Ohio Highway Patroman. Now, I think of them as tax collectors and bullies. Don't get me wrong, the policemen (and policewomen) that risk their lives to truly "serve and protect" are the best - but traffic cops aren't there to promate safety any more - just collect funds. A bully with a gun.

So....are they forcing you to speed?

I fail to see how they're the bad guys when you're the one breaking the law in the first place?

Its their ticket writing that’s partially responsible for you having such a nice paved road to speed on in the first place.

i'm as bad as the next guy and I probably deserve (well not probably, definately) have deserved a ticket many times out there on the road. But I've seen people pass me doing ridiculous speeds and I really don't want to pay the state of KY or the city of Louisville some hefty price because I want to be driving like an idiot on the expressways around town..... I know how to be some stupid fool on the road - we all do... but that causes accidents - and I dont have enough spare change laying around to pay some lawyer if I injure someone over stupidity of speeding - and end up tearing up my car or injuring myself or God forsake, someone else..... just my 2cents......

There are no official ticket quotas within police agencies. If you have seen the devastation of speed involved TC's, you'll understand the need to enforce speeding. Speed limits are set to ensure proper traffic flow, safe lane changing, and safe braking (jaywalkers, a kid's ball bouncing in the street, animals). The "bully's" are preventing the irresponsible DUI drivers and boy racers from possibly injuring or killing you or your family.

Yes, everyone speeds....and when you do so, you're breaking the law and taking a chance at being ticketed for it.....that's the reality! Don't wanna get pulled over for speeding, don't speed. Its really that simple.

Sure, out of State vehicles are more likely to contain out of State owners. Owners who are less likely to attempt to fight the ticket in court when you consider they've got to come all the way back to that state at a different date in order to do so.

It takes the hassle out of writing a ticket for the officer, since the person is more than likely going to just pay it instead of trying futilely (in most cases) to fight it....wasting both the court and the officers time and taxpayer money. If anything, targeting out of state vehicles actually works for the benefit of you’re State, not against. Besides, out of state or not, you've got to be doing something wrong in order to get the ticket in the first place.
