86 2.3l bored .060 over, 1 barrel carb, 4 core radiator, and no noticeable coolant leaks. Car has no power below 2,000rpms. All plugs are white. It does not overheat but runs hotter than normal, started 3 days ago. New thermostat 8 months ago.

any ideas???

Even though there is no noticeable coolant leaks doesn't mean that your coolant still isn't low. Could have leaked some out of your overflow in a parking lot or something three days ago, and been low since then. If you say your plugs are white, then maybe you should try swapping in new motorcraft ones. Also, check your engine oil, cars will run slightly hotter when engine oil levels are low.

Plenty of coolant and plenty of oil. I already use motorcraft spark plugs adn they are only 8 months old. I am going to check timing next.

Found the problem: The crank and aux shaft marks were dead on but the cam was 4 teeth too advanced. Using the string method I got the marks on the cam gear and aux gear as close as possible. I have not drove it much but the power is back and I assume that the temp will cool off now.
