It's funny, I bought for that purpose but I put on almost 400kms this weekend alone! lol It's so fun to drive, I mean it handles real nice with the IRS and it still has a 5.0L... Now I'm restoring it and will make a nice summer car haha!

Well actually... want to see my inspiration?

I'm getting the same hood, same bumper and body kit. I won't use any wing and my car will remain with the original green but with some purple pearl, painted door handles to match. And some limo tinting for the rear windows and a 4" limo tint banner on the windshield as well.

Oh and I'm buying these 17" wheels instead of the Cobras...

Anyway the mod bug has hit, but I'm mostly going for show and a "little" for go such as: track heat intakes, supporting TB, MAF, etc..., some underdrive pullies, true dual exhaust, B303 cam, and possibly get the AOD rebuilt with a better valve body, heavy duty clutches and whatnot

My car is going to the body shop on Monday to get the rockers replaced so it will be 100% rust free... After Christmas I will have the new hood and body kit and hopefully a nice new paint job as well I just love these cars lol Maybe it's because it was sort of like my first car (1984 Cougar).

Thanks for the props and the compliments on my car SR.

Boss 351, nice purchase on the '92 Cat, you should be really happy. The MN12 is a nice change from the old Fox platform. It may be slower in stock trim, but I’m sure you’ve already realized that despite the cars weight, it already handles and rides better than your Fox ever did. Not to mention it’s much more comfortable. As far as mods go, nearly all the 5.0L bolt-ons that worked for your Mustang, will work with this Cougar.

One thing to keep an eye on is the body. The rocker panels on these cars tend to take a nose dive if not kept oil sprayed regularly. Also, the headlights (like the old Fox’s) tend to yellow over time and are nearly impossible to see through after a while. And if you haven’t got it already, be prepared for the dreaded “front end rattle”. The end links on these cars tend to wear out regularly and as such tend to create an annoying “clunk” in the front end.

Take a walk over to www.tccoa.com for a pile of technical advice on this car. There’s a great bunch over there, like here that really know their stuff about these old Cats and Birds, not to mention should give you a few ideas of what you could do as far as visual enhancements to your car.

haha yeah... The rocker panels are dead and the car is going to the paint shop tonight to get new ones installed. I also have that front end "clunk" noise lol The headlights are new so they're all white still.

I went racing yesterday and pulled a 16.25 @ 86.7MPH... that's 100% stock right down to the paper air filter. So it isn't too bad for a 3700lb car. I also pulled a 17 second pass by trying the 1-2-1 shuffle. It's faster by just leaving it in drive for me.

I'm getting 3:55 or 3:73 gears with LS when it comes out of the paint shop. That should help wake it up a little.

Go with at least 3.73's. That car without you in it weighs in at around 3,800lbs. Stock 5.0L Mustangs in the 3,300lb range are even a little lazy with 3.55's, so don't under-gear.

hmmm 4:10 is waay too steep for me. I still want to use this thing on the highway lol... 3:73 is the MAX I'll go with. My car is almost as heavy as an F150 lol

Yes, but don't forget. Your Cat runs a taller tire than your Mustang did and your gear ratio will reflect this. 4.10's in your Cat is just like running 3.73's in a Stang. I went with 3.73's in mine, but I'm also making double the horsepower and running a roots blower to make up for the bottom end loss.

With a N/A near stock 302, you might get away with 3.73's....but you'll be much happier with the 4.10's and may find yourself wishing you had ran them in the fist place if you do otherwise. With 4.10's in the rear, your car will be turning about 2,150RPM at 100km/hr (62mph) and at 120km/hr (75mph) it will be turning in the 2,600RPM range.

.....not as bad as you though, huh?
