I just put my motor back together last night after a month of being down and the amazing thing is it started! :D This was my first head gasket install and I'm positive I did everything correctly THANKS to these boards and evrybody that helped. :nice:
I took her out for a spin and everything seemed normal no smoke and the valvetrain is quiet. I noticed my oil pressure was at 40#'s the whole time and never moved. I usually see it ajust up and down as I am driving and I never got down on it during my initial cruise. Well I went home and had dinner satisfied the car was perfect, and after dinner I was going to go out and pull on it and put some boost through the motor. I went to get ready to leave and when I started it NO oil pressure on the gauge!! The motor seemed quiet and I shut it down immediately. I checked the oil and it seemed hazy and I saw some white gunk on the end of the dipstick.
Are you supposed to change the oil right after initial start up to get the antifreeze out of it from the blown gasket? Is this a procedure I missed? Help!

BTW: RC (PS pulley :p ). My FR chrome water neck held up to 45 minute drive and no leaking! I used no gasket and lots of black RTV. I also grinded the neck down as straight as I could get it with my Dremel from the bad warpage. It seems to be working so far so don't throw yours away yet. :D

On a blown HG....you should chg it before even starting it up.....then some warm-up and do it again.....depends how stank the oil really was...if it still looks murky...thats not good....dump it and run it some....re-check..

I left it unplugged for the month it was down but every time I pushed the car around some more antifreeze would leak out. I ran 3 quarts of fresh oil through the motor unplugged before sealing it up and adding 5 quarts. I think all the muck has mixed with the clean oil but no oil pressure is concerning me.

It may just be my gauge is malfunctioning, is there another way for me to test pressure w/o my gauge?

You sure you got that little nipple on the end of the sending unit plugged into the wire going to the harness?

I forgot to do that once and scared me, but it was no biggy. Anyway that guage died on me the next day.

Goodluck!

Im sure you got oil pressure, I would see WHY NOT, unless you dont have a distributor, oil pump shaft or no cam installed. But I see they all are.

But my friend just blew his HG and the oil was MILKSHAKE type, and he STILL had oil pressure.
