So I just replaced the oil pan gasket on my 89 5.0 and when I started it up it made a funny noise and the oil pressure did not go up. In the book it says to turn it off after a minute if the pressure doesn't rise and so I did. What the hell did I mess up on?

are you sure the pick up to pan clearance stayed the same?

can you prime the pump with a drill? pull the valve covers off so you can see if pressure builds and makes it up top.

good luck.

Just a simple thought. Check to make sure the sending unit wire didn't become disconnected, or possibly you forgot to put it back on if you disconnected it for the install. Just a suggestion to cover something simple that would make it read 0 pressure.

is the oil pump shaft still in the oil pump? get a flash light and look down the hole.

if its missing go fishing with a small magnet on a stick. be patient... once you grab it try to maneuver it into the hole and remove magnet by wedging long screw driver on the pump shaft.

it sucks and take along time but you can get it if this is the problem
