Sounds like the TRX package as it added the slapped bars.

Quad shocks started in 1984. All 84-86 SVOs got them. Mid-1984 is when the turbo 2.3 GT and v8 cars got them.

TRX package was wheels, shocks/struts, springs and sway bars.

I was wrong and the ladder bars were on every v8, pre-1984 Mustang.

The 79 not a Cobra or GT 5.0 I had used four control arms and a sway bar. I am looking forward to seeing a pic of what the invisible ladder bars were supposed to look like.

Ok. lets see how these came out... Looks like a ubolt goes over the axle tube and bolts to these slapper bars.... I wonder if the axle tubes on a 7.5 are smaller in diameter than the 8.8 or a 9 inch??

A good set of control arms and you won’t need them anymore. I wouldn’t put too much thought in keeping thrm

A majority of 84 SVOs had 'slapper bars'. Late 84 SVOs had the Quadra-Shock Rear Suspension. The majority of 84 SVOs were produced before the changeover of the rear suspension (in mid Dec 1983).

The first Fox to get the quadra-shock rear was the mid 83 T'bird Turbocoupe. All other V8 and turbo Mustangs and Capris through mid 84 had those slapper bars.

For those who haven't seen them on a car, I found this pic on the internet that you can clearly see them.

The did the trick….in 1983. Quad shocks kinda do the same thing and with good quality control arms you don’t need either.

Take them off, toss en on eBay for $50 and forget they existed.

After watching a high school friend’s ‘79 4 cylinder with air shocks axle hop like Thumper in an earth quake, I’m putting new quad shocks on with my Steeda control arms. As bad as it felt inside the car, it looked worse on the outside.
Belt and Suspenders for me. I haven’t broke the T-5 yet, but axle hop would be a good way to help do it.

Limp, thanks man. That's very interesting and something I wasn't aware of before. I enjoy the history and evolution of things so that was good to know information.

7991...I hear you. I installed BBK upper and lower on my car but also replaced all 4 rear shocks. Even if not needed I kept the quad shocks. Figured it can't hurt and thanks to help from members here I found a set on rockauto (I dont remember exactly what the application was now) for $25 each.
