My 96 3.8 won't start it sat for a week and now the fuel pump will not kick on and I checked the fuses and as much of the wiring as possible for damaged wires finding none which led me to the ccrm and I swapped it and made no difference does anyone have any ideas or know something I missed

when i bought my 98 v6 it hesitated to start and when we got it home it sat for about a month and a half when i turned 16 and come to find out the fuel pump was bad and it wouldn't start, but it would turn over, so my dad and i checked some different things like in the engine compartment fuse box you can try switch the black relay's one's for the air conditioning and the other is for your fuel pump and if you have a third its for your fog lights, anywyas you might check that one first, then we checked fuel pressure and it was final the fuel pump was dead. without dropping the tank the quickest way to tell if the fuel pump is working is turn the key to on position and listen you should be able to hear the fuel pump kick on. Anyways most likely the fuel pump is bad, it happens alot to this generation when they get left to sit over extended periods of time.

Yeah I'm fixing to check the pump its not kicking on and I don't think it's firing either so I'm leaning towards the pump or computer

Measure the key on voltage at the trunk IFS switch.

If voltage is present, the problem is down stream in the fuel pump or FPDM

In NO voltage is present at the IFS then the problem is upstream (fuse, CCRM, ignition switch, PCM).

you can take the pump out of the car and connect it to a battery out of the car and the pump will run if it's any good..just be careful not to bend anything... like the float... this will let you know if it's the pump or the wiring or something else...

Drop the tank to trouble shoot the fuel pump??? Might as well replace the fuel pump once the tank is down.

FYI, there's a round connector near bottom rear center of the gas tank. Possible to power the fuel pump directly from this connector. This makes it possible to test the fuel pump without having to drop the tank first.
