You sure its not the tappets making the extra noise due to the higher then stock lift ?

that could be but on other modified stangs they just dont seem as loud, i know the x303 is not a very common streeter cam though so maybe thats the case

Im in the same situation as yourself after installing my new nx264 cam, I thaught the old used roller tappets could handle the extra lift but they are making more noise then I would like... Im kinda new to all this but how could the rockers be making the noise wouldnt it most likely be the tappets which would in turn make the rockers noisy?

You guys should indicate if your using pedistal or stud mount rockers. I have studs, used a new set of FRPP lifters, new 6.45" pushrods (correct geometry) and 1.7 rockers. Mine are noisy as heck and the puzzling thing is one side (passenger) is noisier than the other. I've replaced the lifters on that side again and adjusted the valve train from 1/4 turn to 3/4 turn, fine tuned the guides and it's all still noisy on the one side. The driver's side sounds like a sewing machine which is fine to me, but the loose sounding tappet noise is not.
