noob changing plugs

how in the world do you guys get to the #4 plug??? i cant even get my hand in there to pull the wire boot off. help!

I have seen guys remove the plastic trees and pull the inner fender plastic to get to it.......swivel sockets are "wonderful"

Hire a contortionist. Seriously though, Its a PITA, just keep trying, I tried for about an hour the first time I had to take them out.

same here, I take the tube that goes from the egr to the headers off, and take some of those smog hoses off. Usually makes it easier, and not to hard to take off. Good luck.

Remove the smog stuff! (if you can in your area) It makes them much easier to access. I've never had an issue with the EGR tube, though.


Even when I DID have smog on my car ..... swivels and extensions proved to be the best and quickest way possible.

Not sure. But if PA is like NC .... it's all "county-specific".


Best bet is to check your local laws if someone doesn't chime in to let you know. There should be a website available to tell you .....

not sure if you did this or not but it makes it 10X easier if you remove the intake tubing. atleast then you can see in there

Most likely you need it. Places the didn't need it before are going to it so you better ask first

I believe I have read others from PA posting that their state is very strict on emissions.

I just removed the intake tube and the smog hose assembly by untightening 3 hose clamps. Then with a swivel and a whole lot of extensions, yo can get to the plug without any major effort. Didn't have a problem with the egr tube when I did it though.

I always remove the intake tube and smog crap and, with a universal on the socket, I've never had an issue changing the plugs.

You guys go through alot of crap.....Spark plug wire pliers, extention, swivel, and you're done.

ditto...most I've ever taken off was the cold air assembly from the maf to the tb.
