I just bought a set of GT40P heads from a guy on ebay. He threw in an almost complete set of roller rockers. They were loose in the box with one missing. They appear from what I've read to be pedestal style. I can't identify the brand of rocker. Here's my questions:

1. I'm assuming a bolt goes through the top of the rocker and into the pedestal then into the head. Do I use my bolts off the original stock rockers?
2. Is that all there is to this? I went to a machine shop and the guy (didn't seem to know Fords) asked me what keeps the rockers from turming side to side. He asked me if there were grooves inthe head casting. There aren't any.

Thanks!

There are little meatl blocks, the side of it that goes down is flat and the "top" side of it has a "U" to hold the rocker arm in place. The bottom of these blocks sit in a piece of metal with a "groove" in it to keep everything from rotating. Not a very good explination but I will look for you a picture...

Look here:

http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/18679/

"...installed as shown: pedestal channel, followed by the pedestals and the rockers. A 5/16-inch bolt passes through the middle of each rocker and is fastened to the boss on the head"

Look on the Crane Cams or Comp Cams websites for details on how to set lifter preload with pedestal rockers.

Also go to www.lincolnsonline.com, look in their tech section, for a setup for doing that.
