I bought a slightly used 306 it has brodix alum. heads, factory block, Lunati cam, Comp cam rockers, 10.5:1 compresion ratio, and I-beam connecting rods. My question is can I hook Nos up to it? Should i add a main support to it first? If I can what's the Max Shot that I can or should use? I have not put the motor in the car yet so I can do what I want to it.

all a main support system does is keep the block together after it cracks. You are probably going to maxing the blocks limits out around 150shot! the compression ratio shouldnt be an issue. Nitrous loves compression. Remember there is alot more than just throwing the system on and using it! Get two step colder plugs, retard your timing 2 degrees for every 50 shot past 75 and you might want to get it on a dyno to check your a/f ratio

For what it's worth, i'm spraying a tad over a 200 shot on a stock 302 block with only forged pistons and a 10.5:1-11:1 comp ratio. Granted, I know that it could let loose anytime and I'm probably around the limits of what the stock bottom end will take. I think that a lot of it has to do with tuning it well. I'm running a progressive direct port system bringing the nitrous on from 50-100 percent from 3000rpm-6000rpm over 2 seconds so the initial hit isn't as hard. I have it set up to pull 2 degrees of timing as soon as i arm the nitrous system and then 2 more at .5 seconds into the shot and another 2 at 1 second in. I tuned my AFR to 12:1. This is a new project so I can't say that I've run it a long time like this without incident yet. I'm just letting you know how I have mine set up.

good point...although you dont need them! When i was running non o ringed heads the nitrous would find someway into the waterjackets and blow the seal off the radiator cap! Since i got the tw o ringed heads i havent had one single problem

yeah, they aren't o-ringed. i'm not too worried about something happening to this motor, since it's basically stock other than the pistons and a ford x-cam. it would be an inconvenience since it's a daily driver but if it goes i'll be putting in something bigger instead of rebuilding it. i have a lot of work to do to get the car running faster anyway, it should be quite a bit quicker than it is but its a dog until it gets up in rpm probably due to the overkill intake setup and crappy heads, not to mention the 3.08 gears.

whoa!!!!!!!!!!! you really need to get some steeper gears in if you plan on running that at the track! If it bogs you can kiss that motor good bye with the N20!
