Not exactly the same rear gear question

I was wondering. I've noticed that some different rear gear ratios use the same tooth count on the pinion gear and a different tooth count on the ring gear. If you were to swap from one of these gearsets to the other, could you not just replace the ring gear and simply adjust backlash without having to worry about the pinion at all?

I'm trying to find tooth count right now on 8.8 gears actually and now I can't find anybody. Does anybody know where I can find the tooth count for the pinion and the ring gear from 2.73 up to a 3.55?

Edit: I've found that on the 3.55 gear there are 11 teeth on the pinion and 39 on the ring gear. Anybody know what the numbers are on numerically lower gears?

You pretty much have to use a matched set so the wear pattern of the pinion matches the wear pattern of the ring.

On a side note: I thought all rings were the same and it was the pinion that was different.
