I'm throwing in the towel. I bought my 88LX 2.3L 3 long years ago. It hasn't left the garage since I bought it. It was swapped to 302 with TRW flat top pistons, 1.7 roller rockers, Lunati 544 cam, edelbrock carb, performer intake, MSD ignition, battery relocation, GT ground FX + GT wing, sanded and repainted, MGW shifter, fuel pump, eibach drag springs, BBK longtubes, BBK o/r X, flowmaster 3 chambers, 28spline detroit locker, 8.8 rear, stock tranny.

All this making 8.50/hour workin at the local mall. I've realized the car is never gonna be where I want it so I'm parting it out and gonna try and make some money back. Once I get a better job I'll get a notch and restart from scratch. So if anyone wants to sway me to keep this SOB go for it. Anybody wanna buy parts from me go for it. I feel like I'm doing something stupid. Anyone else ever go thru this?

I cant even remember how many times I've hit the "why do I bother" phase.

That thats all it was: a phase.

I sold my stang and bought a saab 9000 and after like 3 months, I missed the power, the roar, the hairy chestedness of the american musclecar.

If you sell it, you will regret it. I've been modding this car 5 years now and sometimes one just needs to take a break.....take the combo you currently have and just drive it. But dont give up.

No one can do anything nonstop for 3 years and be with it the whole time

Just take a break.

Besides...how much $$$ could you possibly make back to make selling it worthwhile?

What sense does it make to sell it now, loose money, then buy another one, sink mod money into it, and loose more money? Seems pretty stupid to me.

Keep, stop working on it now, get a real job and finish what you started. It makes sense from both a monetary and a practicality standpoint.

I started with a 95GT, said I dont want/need this car and sold it.

Then I got a Prelude VTEC, then a Ranger, then a 300ZX, then a Lincoln MK7... and I realized how much I missed the 5.0.... I swapped in a 91LX motor, did the A9L conversion, made it a 5 speed, only to discover that all I really wanted still was a mustang. Whatever made you buy it in the first place will keep you wanting one in the future. I know you must love the car if you bothered to do all the work of a V8 swap..... just keep the damn thing. I sold the lincoln and bought a notch and I'm not looking back. I've had my notch 3 years now. Started with a stock motor on the bottle, then I got a powerdyne(still cheap money), last year I finally saved enough money and accumulated the parts to go TT. You cant do it overnight. Keep the car as long as it takes and get it where you want it little by little. You couldnt offer me enough money to sell my notch now.

I miss my '89 GT, but I just couln't do the things I wanted and still smog it. Before that I had a basket case '65 notch. It spen more time torn apart than even assembled, let alone driving and I was stranded on the road numerous times during the "debugging" phase. I hated that car, but by the time I had enough and sold it, the bugs were worked out and the guy who bought it said it was a great car. Later I realized that I should have just stuck with it(factory 4-spd, 289, disc brake non-GT).

Not unlike your situation, right?

My '68 was another that needed everything. I tried to stick with it and now I have work in progress that I'm still enthusiastic about. I've taken breaks along the way, though. You get burned out if you go whole-hog the entire time. Like was said already, walk away for a little while. You'll feel motivated again.

Thanks guys. I wish I could move the whole thread to talk now. Anyway, the reason I want to start from scratch is because I regret making it GT. I regret buying a hatch. I just want a badass pristine notch with a big block backed by a C4. Not gonna happen with what I have now. It's just all the little things I don't like. I shouldn't have bought a lift off hood. 4 pins looks gay.

Anyway. I'm going to Atco tomorrow. Maybe watching will help me through my situation. Thanks for the support. Later guys.
