Notching a block for a stroker??

Is notching a block something I can do myself without harming anything? I have read somewhere that you can do it yourself. The machine shop wants $200 to do it, but I'm sure they have a machine press that does it or something.

I'm doing a 331, do I even need to notch the block?

Not sure if the 331 requires notching, but it is easy to do yourself.

Just need a grinder, a steady hand and some patience.
Good way to save 200 bones.

Be sure to debure the edges common to the bore, as well as the entire lower edge of the bore.

I notched 2 blocks for 408w builds.
It is easy to do...
