Congrats on getting deployed. One of my good friends is a PL with a portion of the 162, I think out of Medford? He finishes ranger school in early March and then deploys at the same time as you. Be careful and take a picture when you single-handedly capture Osama!
As far as getting hurt goes, at least you can still serve. I lost my commission because of the chronic compartment syndrome I developed in my legs from over-training. I'll be getting two more surgeries in the next two months, which hopefully will cure me. I'll try to make it to a get-together; that is, if I am not crippled.

545 days from when I go active. As for the second part of your statement... That is a defeatist attitude. They said we'd never get Saddam, Carlos the Jackal, the Unabomber, Mussolini, Hitler, Tojo, etc...

Long enough to rid the country of the bulk of the Taliban goons that kept a strangle hold on life in that country.

We'll be there until the country is stable economically(yikes), socially and militarily. This may not mean the capture of Osama, but it certainly means the satisfaction that Al Queda forces have been so badly crippled by our operations there, that they no longer pose a threat in that part of the world.

Are you kidding me? He was dumb enough to hide in his home town. We got intel that he was in the village. We checked it out and found him, by luck, as the US soldiers almost left the house he was hiding near. He certainly was not happy to have been found.

Yes, we are all entitled to hold our own opinions. My problem with your previous statement is that you presented it as a fact. You said, "BTW, we will never get Osama." If you had said, "BTW, I don't think we will ever get Osama," I would not have called attention to it. Hopefully you have learned the distinction between a statement of opinion and one of fact.
