I was just wondering how many valves are in the 2000 GT engine. Is it the same for 2001 also?

2 per cylinder......... one intake, one exhaust for a grand total of 16

All GTs from 96 to 2004 OHC ( Over head cams ) have 2 valve per cylinder so 16 valves.

I should say from 1964 to 1995 they all have 2 valve per cylinder , just Cobras 96 up have DOHC ( Double over head cams ) and have 4 valve per cylinder so 32 Valves.

2005 GTs will have 3 valve per cylinder so 24 Valve .

ah see my friend is a pretty big mustang guy and he thought that the gt came w/ 4v stock. hehe he was wrong and now i can rub it in his face , thanks for the info!

another quick ?, how much would it cost to get a dohc motor to drop into a 2001 gt?

This can be between 3K to 6K depending of the deal you will get for the 32V ( new or used ) and who will be doing the install.
