I jst got my car a week ago or so. Everynow and then the check engine light will come on then it will go off etc... So the previous owner(also my friend) told me it was because it needs a new o2 sensor. Does this sound right? If so should i replace both of them or just one?

could be

i had that same problem and i hooked up to a computer reader and got no codes,i also noticed that the cel would come one at about 1500 rpm,so one day i was replacing my valve cover gaskets and had the upper intake off andd noticed the vacum lines were badly cracked i replaced all the lines under the upper intake and the light5 went off try that could be the problem

Retrieving the codes and checking everything over sounds like a place to start. The O2's and lean conditions tend to get lumped together code-wise (there is not an O2 code, per se) so it's best to rule things out before replacing them (since they are pricey).

Good luck.
