I've proudly put 40,000+ miles on the V6 I own.But now the odometer quit working. Both the odometer and the trip odometer have quit working. After pulling the gauge cluster apart,I notice there is a little gear that rides against the shaft of the odometer motor. The problem is this gear has a couple broken teeth on it.Is there any way this gear can be replaced? Or do I have to take it to a Ford dealer to fix this? I know many of you would gladly go without counting the miles. But personally,I'd like to know how much is on the clock and also, this could cause an insurance problem if there is a discrepancy (spelling) in the OD readings.

Thanks

I've seen the gear.It has a couple broken teeth on it.My question is,can this gear be replaced? Or does it have to be done by a Ford Dealer?

You might want to look on eBayMotors for a replacement. As long as you're in there, you might want to roll it back too! Actually, I'm just kidding.

Also, try these guys:
